WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A COACH, CONSULTANT AND THERAPIST?
Life Coaches work with clients to help them achieve goals, overcome certain blocks and barriers and help them discover new ways of doing daily life that provide more meaning and purpose. The role of the coach is to facilitate the experience while letting the client come to conclusions and decisions.
Consultants have expertise in a particular area or related areas and make recommendations hired to make recommendations for people or companies to follow.
A Therapist is licensed and trained to psychoanalyze patients to help them heal from emotional pain.
DOES A LIFE COACH NEED TO BE CERTIFIED?
No. However, those who are certified have gone through a considerable amount of training to help clients in multiple facets of life. Mike Doria is a Certified Life/Career Coach with his life coaching training done through the Life Purpose Institute, a school accredited by the International Coach Federation.
WHAT SHOULD MY EXPECTATION BE OF THE COACHING PROCESS?
On the very first call, you and your coach will have a broad conversation on various areas of life. You may also ask some of your owns questions or frequently asked questions about coaches and how they help clients. From there, your coach will gather notes then present you with a plan or specific course of action on which type of coaching might be best. Of course, if you have specific areas that you'd like to work on -- those will certainly be included. Each client is different, therefore so is the strategy and action plan.
Clients are expected to stay engaged and complete tasks. It only works if the client works at it. Coaches do not typically call clients, it is their responsibility to book appointments and call when they are ready. A coach will check in from time to time in between appointments depending on the action plan. You should expect to have a meaningful experience during your coaching. Why else would you being doing it?
SHOULD MEN WORK WITH MEN AND WOMEN WORK WITH WOMEN OR IS THAT NOT A BIG DEAL?
It's really up to the client and what he or she prefer. However, coaches are trained to work with men or women and their services are beneficial for clients of both genders.
DO I NEED TO SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION IN WHICH I AM NOT COMFORTABLE?
In coaching, we treat the client as the expert. Only you know what is best for you. You are encouraged to only share information in which you are comfortable. The more information you can provide will certainly give a clearer picture but again, only share what makes you comfortable.
WILL I NEED MORE SESSIONS AFTER I USE UP THE ONES IN MY PACKAGE OF SESSIONS OR WILL THE INTIAL ONES BE ENOUGH?
That really depends on the progress made during your initial coaching. For those who want to work on one specific area, the initial sessions may be enough. For multiple areas, more sessions may be needed. Your coach will make a recommendation and present options once your initial sessions run out, if more are needed. At that time, you can the decision you feel is best.
DO I NEED TO MAKE THE FULL PAYMENT UP FROM OR CAN I SET UP PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS?
Because of the way the website and payment system is structured, payments must be made in full. Once you make a purchase, you will be able to book appointments.
